When you take a break in Ayia Napa, it can be tempting to simply spend the whole time at the beach, and of course that’s something that definitely should be on the agenda, but if that’s all you do, you’re missing out on so much more. Here is a suggested itinerary to help you get more from your next trip to beautiful Ayia Napa

Day 1 Explore Larnaka

Day 1  – Explore Larnaka

When you land at Larnaka airport, it can be tempting to get straight off to your villa and then head to the beach, but Larnaka is a beautiful and historic city and certainly one you should spend some time in, so why not linger a while and discover more about Larnaka while you’re here. The church of Saint Lazarus is one of the most stunning in all of Cyprus and is of great religious and archaeological importance. The medieval castle is also awe-inspiring, but it’s not all about the past in Larnaka, explore the cobbled streets and you’ll find a wealth of fabulous cafes, restaurants and bars.

Making the most of Ayia Napa

Day 2 – Making the most of Ayia Napa

Today is the day for enjoying what Ayia Napa is famous for… fun! Head to Nissi beach and enjoy the vibrant sunshine, get involved in water sports and beach games. Take lunch on the seafront, enjoying the view and watching the world go by, then if you’re still feeling lively, you can dance the night away at one of the many top nightclubs in the area, or get involved in a beach party with music played by top DJs.

Day 3 – Relax and appreciate your villa

You’ve booked a beautiful villa, so don’t forget to spend time actually enjoying your accommodation. If you were out late last night, then have a lazy day by your pool or sat on your terrace. Take a stroll into town and pick up some local produce for an evening spent dining alfresco in your private garden. Then relax and watch the sunset over the ocean.

A day in Protaras

Day 4 – A day in Protaras

Enjoy your time at a relaxed pace, with a day in Protaras. Climb the 150 steps to St Elias church and you’ll be rewarded with some truly magical views of the ocean and the entire town. Take a boat trip around Cape Greco to see the amazing sea caves, or head off on foot to explore the many hiking trails. If you’ve ever fancied learning to dive, Protaras is the perfect place. You’ll find expert tuition and you’ll soon be diving in the crystal clear warm waters discovering an underwater world.

Day 5 Relax and dine like kings

Day 5 – Relax and dine like kings

It’s your last day, so perhaps you’ll want to do a little souvenir shopping in the morning, then find a restaurant that serves the traditional meze. Start your meal early as this will take literally hours as you savour between 20 and 30 different small dishes. Each one is unique, packed full of flavour, meze is as much an experience as it is a meal. Don’t forget to order a bottle of the local wine to accompany your meal and take your time. There’s no need to rush when you’re in Cyprus. Then head back to your villa to enjoy your final sunset of the holiday.
