Globehunters recently carried out research to discover which beaches were the most popular on Instagram and Nissi Beach has come out in third position!
Why is Nissi Beach so well photographed?
It’s no surprise really, there’s always something going on at Nissi Beach that is just perfect to post on Instagram. Nissi Beach really does have it all. For one thing it’s stunningly beautiful with breath-taking views, that’s pretty important when it comes to taking beach photos. The crystal clear blue waters are also very clean, in fact this beach has been given the coveted Blue Flag Award. The waters are shallow, calm and safe and the sand is fine and golden. It really is paradise!
Nissi Beach is lively and vibrant. During the day there are water sports available and music playing, but it’s at night when the beach truly comes alive with foam parties and live DJs. If you’re looking for a fun packed beach, Nissi Beach at Ayia Napa is definitely worth checking out! From May right through to October the Nissi Bay Beach Bar holds parties every single day so no matter when you visit, you’ll always find this beach has something fun going on!
If you’re more into chilling out than dancing the night away, visit Nissi Beach from November through to April and you’ll be rewarded with a quieter more relaxed beach. At this time of year you’ll still have weather that’s warm enough for sunbathing, but the beach will be less crowded.
Another local beach ranked 20th most photographed
As if that wasn’t enough, in a recent survey by TravelSupermarket, another Cyprus beach made it into the Top 20 and that beach is Fig Tree Bay. Over the survey period, the hashtag #figtreebay was used a massive 31,088 times. Only 3 other European beaches made it into the top 25, so this is quite an achievement.
Fig Tree Bay is as lovely as the name suggests. It’s a quieter beach than Nissi Beach and so is popular with families looking to spend a relaxing day having fun in the water. Close to the main resort, it’s easily accessible and the gently sloping beach makes it ideal for all ages to have a paddle and enjoy the sea. For the more adventurous there’s also a wide range of water sports available here, or simply hire a sun lounger and take it easy!

Which beach you choose as your own personal favourite will totally depend on what you look for in a beach.
