Cyprus is famous for its fabulous diving. Experienced divers flock from all over the world to enjoy the diving experiences that Cyprus has to offer. Beginners also choose Cyprus for the perfect place to learn to dive, with pleasant warm waters and expert tuition on hand. Here are 7 amazing diving spots that can be found close to the coast of Cyprus

Zenobia

Zenobia

Rated one of the top ten wreck dives in the world, this Swedish ferry sank in 1980 on her maiden voyage, just 1.4km off the coast of Larnaka. It’s such an interesting wreck to explore as the ferry and the cargo are all still largely intact.

Lady Thetis

The Zenobia sank accidentally, but as it provides such fabulous diving opportunities, the Cyprus government thought it would be a great idea to sink vessels on purpose, providing some wonderful diving spots, and creating artificial reef homes for the marine life. Lady Thetis is one such sunken boat and offers some easy swim-throughs and some more difficult options for the more experienced divers.

Devil’s Head

This area with caves connected by underwater tunnels is a wonderful place to dive. You’ll discover some beautiful rock formations and if you’re lucky you may even see rare green and leatherback turtles if you’re diving during the summer months.

Green Bay

Green Bay

This breath-taking spot houses an underwater sculpture park that is simply amazing. This area is frequently used by diving schools due to having a depth of only 10 metres and for its sheer beauty. There’s also a feeding station here named The Fish Rock.

Amphora Caves

Go back in time and explore these caves filled with ancient ceramic amphora, vessels used for transportation. There are several caves here to explore, including one with amphora embedded into its roof.

The Ayia Napa Caves

The Ayia Napa Caves

You’ll see yet more amphora here at the Ayia Napa Caves, as well as remnants of crashed trade ships from long ago. There’s a famous rock formation here too that just so happens to be in the shape of Cyprus itself!

The Canyon

To the south of the Cape Greco National Park, you’ll find this beautiful diving spot that is rich in marine life. This is a notoriously tricky dive, so it’s not recommended for beginners.
